I am happy to note that the Delhi Labour Welfare Board is organizing a Seminar on "Development of infrastructure for Mobile Rescue and Rehabilitation Service (MRRS) for the migrant labourers and implementation of Migration Act."

We, in the Labour Department, Government of Delhi, have always been concerned of the plight of the weakest of the weak. Amongst various categories of unorganized labour, the migrant workers are most disadvantaged as they are working far away from their homes and are culturally and socially isolated. With a view to take care of workers in this sector, the Government of India had framed the Inter-State Migrant Workers (RE & CS) Act, 1979, but a lot of work still remains to be done in this field. The Seminar would not only create awareness about the plight of migrant workers but would also provide valuable suggestions and a road map for the future.
